--Attic Musings/Reflection--
Well we are in the New Year, and it's also a new decade. It is a time for thinking of resolutions or goals. Remove the old and tired things that take up too much of our time and thought and bring in the new. We need to try to do better this year than we did last year. We need to make our little corner of the world a little bit better.
Today I have been taking down the Christmas decorations and the tree and cleaning as I think and ponder on these things. I have been thinking about getting my priorities established. One thing I've been thinking about is getting started with some new creative projects. The beginning of 2010 feels good actually. I want to take care of my health so I will feel up to creating things first off.
But what inspires me to create? We were gone part of the holiday, and the drive up to the hill country is so pretty. I love looking at the hills and the trees. When we come home, back to the flatland, it has its beauty too. My DH is always talking about the beautiful skies here in the Wild Horse Desert. Being in the flatland there is nothing getting in your way of seeing the sunrises or sunsets, that’s for sure. So I feel lucky. I guess one more resolution I have is to get out and see more of those beautiful skies in the early morning and in the evening. I will make it a point to be outside at that time, so I won’t miss those beautiful skies, the skies that so many take for granted, and maybe I was beginning to also. Those skies, those trees and all of nature can be my inspiration for my art this year as well. I will take little trips, take photos and turn those photos into more in-depth ideas. I hope to take a trip to the Big Ben of Texas this year.
How about you??? How are you beginning this year? What will your inspiration be? What are your goals?
Most of all I hope you have peace in your heart.
The inspiration for my art has often come from nature and the landscape. The colors, the textures etc. is an ongoing challenge for me to turn it into something that I like and that will make me smile. I use different mediums in my art and sometimes mixed media is the way to go, and other times I like to use just fabric alone. In each piece I make different choices and each choice brings different results in the end. I like to try different things for each piece and sometime I never know what I will do. Sometimes the piece talks to me and tells me what it wants. Like my dolls for instance, I never know what I will do to each one until I sit with each one for awhile and listen.

I often look at my art and think what kind of style do I have. Do I have a style?
I like so many different things. I think and I ponder quite a bit on this and all this pondering comes under the category of "reflection". I think it is necessary to reflect on your work and your process. It is part of growing in your work and in order to change you need to reflect on what you have accomplished so far. I want to create new things and continue to grow and learn.
What are you reflecting on in this beginning of a new year?

This is a great post with questions to consider! All I've done so far is select a word, which is Intent.
The word intent is a word I like Deborah. Thanks for visiting and leaving comments. I'm going to try and answer any comments left by online friends this coming year.
