Appliqued quilt top by Joni
The Saturday Quilters met again a couple of weeks ago.
We meet every 4th Saturday of the month.
The Conner Museum exhibit was on our agenda.
We recently took our exhibit down
from the Conner Museum,
after it showing for 2 months.
Over 1000 people came through the exhibit,
and the museum ask us to do it again
next year.
I had 7 quilts
in the Celebration of Quilts 2010 exhibit.
A previous post shows pics of the reception here
2 months ago.
The quilt top above belongs to Joni,
who does beautiful applique.
These are all applique Celtic knots.
Can you imagine
the number of stitches she had to put in!!!!!
It will be gorgeous when she is finished,
and I'm sure it will go in
next years exhibit at the Conner.
Joni is the lady who did the Dear Jane quilt.
You should see her studio!
It's like a quilt shop plus more!!!!
I hear that this book is great
if you like Celtic Quilts.
I love everything Irish!
I checked this book out once
from our guild library,
and found it very good.
Well, that's not all for the Saturday Quilters!
One of our members, June, teaches
art and quilting at our Pan Am school here.
She is always coming up with her own designs.
This is her "Turtle" quilt.
I just love her design and colors.
This one is her first "art" quilt, still in progress.
It is from a drawing she made a long time ago,
she told us.
June said she had never tried this before,
but is really enjoying it.
I will try and get a photo of the finished piece,
when she brings it to show and tell.
I was so pleased to see that someone from this group
is interested in art quilts.
There is a very small group of us here locally,
as most of the ladies with this group
are strictly traditional quilters.
So, if any of you out there are
just traditional quilters,
you should at least try
one art quilt.
You may just find you like it!
This is the book that my quild used for their little art quilt classes.
It is a good book if you want to try your hand at art quilting.
Everyone has an artist inside of them!
Savor the Day!
Yvonne
