Blueberry red and a fiber art WIP

Happy tea day to all of you!

Today, it is just too hot for anything else but
Blueberry Red organic artisan iced tea
by Rishi tea.

I love this rich, wonderfully refreshing iced tea.
It is fruity and tart and has for ingredients the following....
rooibos, hibiscus, licorice root, blueberries
and natural strawberry flavor.
I picked it up at World Market last week.
Another thing I like about this tea
is its large quart size pouches.
They work wonderful in fiber art pieces.

Speaking of fiber art....
I have everything ready for my Merit show in August,
so now I am getting ready for another show
that my fiber art society group is doing.
This show is called,
"Much Made from Small Pieces" a World View.
It's about your feelings,
pictures or inspirations of world peace, unity,
and the one mind of the
'People of the World' for good.
The reception is Sept. 29
and the show will run for approx. 30 days.

Here is the beginning of my project...

The piece must be 24 by 34 approx.
I am creating it on hand dyed fabric.
The piece is a tree of life or mother nature goddess,
with the roots, canopy etc.
in the shape of a 'peace' sign.
I will be doing lots of free motion stitching,
and possibly painting,
after I fuse everything down.
Interpret this piece how you will.

As my fiber art president Happy Jonas said....
"Peace is within us
and we reflect it out into our daily lives.
We are the small pieces
weaving our feelings into the whole fabric,
strong and present."

So, stay cool everyone
and go enjoy the rest of the tea day posts here...

Savor the Day!
Yvonne

Very pretty piece so far, Yvonne! I especially like the hand-dyed look of the fabric.

I love your tree of life inspiration for your peace piece. I hope you post a photo of the finished work, too.

Yvonne, did you hand dye that fabric? It is gorgeous. Is the background made of different dyed pieces or was that all from a single dyed piece (what I would call whole cloth, but not sure that's what to call it). I know this will be a perfect world view piece because the background is so lovely, and the mother nature peace goddess will be the hit of the show. I want to find some of that tea, too. It sounds simply delish!

I will be driving past cost plus a little later today .... Now I have the perfect excuse to pop in there :)

Do you use the tea for dying .... Or do you use the tea bag paper .... Or both? Quart sized teabags would be very handy for both!

I have never tried a blueberry tea before .... It looks yum! Happy Tuesday! Kimmie

Per your questions... Yes I use the tea for dyeing sometimes and I also use the tea bag paper for mixed meadia pieces. Since I posted this I have already changed it a bit...put fabric paper for the tree canopy instead of fabric.
Yes I hand dyed the fabric. It is what I call 'end of day dyeing'. I drape a piece of fabric over a pole, pour leftover dye along the pole and watch the magic happen as the dye drips down the fabric. Yes, it is all one piece of background fabric.
Thanks for commenting everyone! It means a lot to me. I will be posting a pic of the finished piece soon.
