My friend Laura invited me over to join her
and some others for a 'felting day'.
Meet Laura,
a very talented artist,
having fun dyeing fabric with Kool-aid,
in this photo.
Below is Nancy (and one of Laura's dogs),
modeling a coat that was needle felted by Laura.
It is very unique and beautiful!
For felting day,
Laura had lots of beautiful colors of roving to choose from.
Some were hand dyed.
Ginger is working on getting this beautiful hand dyed, blue roving,
pulled out very thin
for a project that her and Laura are working on.
Nancy was working at the felting machine below.
She brought this wool jacket over to work on.
It had gotten moth holes in it she said.
So she decided to embellish it with different yarns,
using the felting machine.
This machine has many needles to felt with,
and NO THREAD!
It is an amazing embellishing machine.

Here is the back,
and it looks great!
Laura has even made felted beads for making jewelry.

How cool is that! I had no idea! No idea that you could felt an entire garment .... No idea that there was a machine to do the job .... And no idea that a moth-eaten jacket could be made useful again!
Wow! If you can embellish moth-eaten jackets and make them look like that, you've got it made!

What a fun playdate!
A very timely post since my daughter who also makes jewelry with hand-made beads, some felted, just taught me how to do this. It was great fun! I love the creativity with the jacket!
