This year in my watercolor class,
our teacher Dolores
is teaching from the book
Watercolor Wisdom
by Jo Taylor, AWS.
For homework
we have to paint something using one of the
five color harmonies...analogous, triadic,
complementary,monochromatic or
split complementary.
So, I had fun with a little hummingbird.
I quickly painted these, just to try out
three different combinations.
The top is Triadic,
the left one on the bottom is complementary,
and the one on the right is monochromatic.
Let me know what you think of the colors.
Savor the Day!

Your hummingbirds look fabulous. I'm most drawn to the purple complementary version. penny
Stunning! Love those hummingbirds. :)
I love how the hummingbird stands out in the triadic one but the most pleasing to the eye I think is the complementary.
Very cool.
Gorgeous results of the exercise. Same subject yet each is so different. I love the look of the triad colors.
The colors are amazing - it is so fun to see how the hummingbird looks in all of these different combinations :)
They are all wonderful, but I really love the way the hummingbird seems to vibrate against it's background in the triadic painting!

Triadic does it for me... that is my favourite colour combination of all time. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving your lovely comment... wish I had a friend who had been to clown school! Trace xx
This is so interesting to see! You did an amazing job! I am drawn to the purple, and wish to make experiments of my own now. Thanks for the inspiration! xo
Yvonne you have demonstrated so much growth during your participation in this watercolor experience. Love these hummingbirds! Peace, Mary Helen
They're all beautiful, but I think I like the triatic best, too. The hummingbird just jumps out at me.
