We made African masks using a picture as a guide.
Each one of us made either one or two each.
The top one is made using fabric paper.
The other one I just used African looking fabric,
and my bleach discharge fabric for the background.
It has a bit of my hand dyed fabric in it too.
all of the blocks.
There were nine blocks total.
Judy was the winner and she was thrilled.
Click on the photo to enlarge it,
so you can see the detail more easily.
Aren't they wonderful!
Next month we are doing a
tree block.
Each block will be 12 inches square
when finished, just like these.
Then we do anything we want,
any kind of tree,
any kind of embellishment.
Then we will draw again
to see who wins them all!
This is FUN!

OOOOOooooh, I love these. How wonderful to win the whole group. That's going to make a really neat quilt. :)Bea
Thanks Bea. This quilting bee is mostly traditional so I am trying to get to think about art quilts a bit. We used the picture as a guide and everyone's came out really different. those who had not made anything that way before had a good time they said. I think they all came out good. I will try to show the finished quilt when Judy gets it done.
Hi Yvonne! Wonderful blocks and so creative! I also love it as your new banner too. It must be so much fun to think up ideas with your group. Fabulous work! Have a beautiful weekend! :)
These are all fantastic!! I love them and really look forward to seeing what the finished quilt will look like. Great idea!
Thanks Lisa, we do hve fun coming up with new ideas. I am new to the group so they sometimes leave it up to me to inspire them and come up with new ideas. I found the picture that we used as a guide and inspiration somewhere months ago and wish I could remember who did it so I could give them credit.
Thanks MA. Me, I can't wait to see how Judy puts it all together. She is a traditional quilter so this is new for her. It will be insteresting! :)
