I'm still having fun
learning watercolor!
This one is my latest.
First I drew the flowers,
then I started dropping in color
on a wet background.
After that I added the flower petal shadows
with a blue violet.
The background had to dry before going on.
Then I wet the flower petals with clear water
and then dropped in color.
The flower centers were done the same way.
After all was dry I put in the
dark little stems into the background
for added texture.
I guess I need to start naming my pieces.
I will sign them soon too.
I have been working on a signature.
Any suggestions for a name for this piece?
And how about my previous dove painting?
How do you sign your work?
Full name or just initials?
Savor the Day!

Very pretty, Yvonne! I never was able to manage watercolor very well when in school, but I think I'm learning a few things from your post. You mention techniques I was never taught like "dropping in" color and whether the background is wet or not. The result is wonderful!
Hi Barbara. Watercolor is something you have to just let it do its thing, I have learned. I'm getting better at not trying to control it so much. I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for your comment.
Beautiful! The look like they are reaching for the sun. I don't think I would ever be able to create anything like that.
Yvonne, your watercolor painting is wonderful. I'm going to email the art teacher at my former school and link to your work.
