Paint Party Friday--a bit early

I will be dyeing fabric all day Friday,
so I thought I would go ahead and post this early.

Paint Party Friday is in it's second week!
To see some wonderful creations visit

Here is my painting for this week.
I have wanted to really loosen up,
so I did a quick sketch of 2 horses and did
a very loose abstract piece.
I love color, as you can tell.
I'm not sure it's finished,
that's why it is still on my foamcore board.

This watercolor measures 18 by 24 inches.

I tried to do what I learned in watercolor class yesterday.
1. I changed brushes (sizes) often while painting.
2. I stood up to paint.
3. Once I put paint down, I left it alone.
4. I stepped back from the painting often.
5. I didn't hurry.

I need to come up with a name for this piece.
Any suggestions???

Savor the Day!
Yvonne

Oh I love it!! Excellent work. The colors are just fabulous. A name, well...I can't think of one right now, but I do love horses. I've never ridden one, they are so strong. One passed by in front of my yard and I happened to be standing just on the other side of my gate and wow, everything went WHOOOOOSH! It was awesome. Hey, that looks like what is happening in the painting, "WHOOSH!"

Thank you Gloria for your sweet comment. I love horses too, although I don't have the land for them anymore.

I love the colors and the flowing of the paints. There is much energy in this work of art. I would name it,"Freedom."

One of the blogs I follow is written by a lady who lives where wild horses roam on the beach. This painting could be one of her photos. It is beautiful!

I love the looses style and I've seen others paint in this similar fashion with all the colors (abstract). What is her blog? I would love to see her work.

Lightning, dash & freedom is what I see. But I certainly like whoosh!! I like how you've loosened up.

I LOVE this piece! You can so feel the horses running and the wind blowing their manes. You have created not only a painting, but a mood. Being as I specialize in equine art, I guess I love it all the more! :-)

Amazing! I really want to learn how to do that loose watercolor technique. I love the colors that you used and you can just imagine the horses running wild. You have captured the momentum very well!

Your painting is very beautiful, you really captured the emotion of running free. Love the colors you used. I'm horrible with naming but Running Free seems to fit.

I LOVE this piece you've captured them with such fire and the essence of freedom. I wouldn't change a thing- it's perfection the way it is!

Wow! It is gorgeous Yvonne!

"Wild Horses"? Not terribly original but there is wild, free and flowing feeling to this piece.

So happy you could join us at the party again!

Gosh this is incredible. The whole composition is so wild and free with the colours leaping out at you. I can just imagine the horses pawing and stamping at the ground, their breath steaming in the early morning chill. Fab work.

What a fabulous piece. you have been totally successful in using a loose style and i love the colours you have used. Recently i've been enjoying adding colours that don't necessarily exist in reality but add something to the piece. I just love this. It made me think of that old gary glitter song "crazy horses"!

Oh my goodness that painting is so beautiful!!! I am also hoping you show us the fabric dyeing story. I tried it myself a few days and I was quite blind.

I love this painting! You have captured the essence of the horses, their wildness and movement. The undefined border and raw bold colors remind me of the wildness of stallions. Maybe a good name would be "Free", as these horses appear to be :)

So loose and flowing. I love them

I agree with Eva...the title should be "Wild and Free". It's just magnificent. I've been wanting to try loosening up too. Was it difficult? Thanks for the tips on how you did it, and for stopping by to visit me. :-)

First of all, fabulous painting! I am seeing this as a male in the foreground and a female behind. She is looking at him with such "Adoration". The only thing I might do with this is define the line of his back just a tiny bit. Gorgeous, Kathryn

Thanks everyone for your comments. And thanks Kathryn for the critique, as that is what I'm looking for. I will still work on it.

I love the horses, Y. This is my fave painting style - if I could paint, this is the kind I'd wanna do. I also see a female on the left and male on the right. What about something like "Inseparable". I'd also like to loosen up in my drawing and my dolls. Realism keeps dragging me down.

Annabelle said...

Like Gail I see a romantic entangle....how about " Wild About You".I adore the feeling of no boundaries...complete and utter escape into the wild and beautiful vastness of nature. You've captures that! Wish I could paint like this!!!
