Paint Party Friday-WIP

It's Paint Party Friday!
I have had so much on my plate this week,
that I have not finished a painting.
I think it shows in my painting below
how stressed I've been lately.
I started this one in class,
and have not touched it much since.
So here is my work in progress
(or maybe just finished).
I have never done white flowers,
and it was difficult to say the least.
I am not happy with the background most of all.
I tend to go over and over it sometimes,
and have to keep reminding myself that
once I put a stroke of color down,
to leave it alone.
I am constantly striving to be loose.
Maybe I will try it again this week, all new and fresh,
learning from my mistakes on this one.
Maybe a few glasses of wine would help.
LOL
Would appreciate ANY critique.
It is very helpful.
Your comments have meant a lot to me.
Thanks.

Savor the Day!
Yvonne

Hi
I am visiting from Paint Party Friday. This is my first time and enjoying visiting Blogs that are new to me.
Cannot believe you have never painted white flowers before - this is incredible.

It's beautiful!

I find painting white difficult too - I often add white acrylics when I'm using watercolours to help out. You did a wonderful job using white!

Loving your white flowers, beautiful artwork. Happy PPF, Annette x

Your flowers are lovely - you're braver than me...I haven't painted anything "white" yet! I'm also struggling to paint looser and with a lighter touch. My newly started art journal is helping with that because somehow I don't have the pressure to have each attempt be 'perfect'. These flowers are a great start and I'm curious to see how you finish it up.

I love your work and these white flowers. Lots of motion in the painting.

I was going to comment about how much I love the looseness of line in this beautiful piece before I even read what you wrote... I think you did a great job staying loose (that is always a big challenge for me).

i like this piece. i think it has a lovely impressionistic quality to it. don't be so hard on yourself, sometimes life blocks or halts the artistic flow despite our best efforts and sometimes the painting we create doesn't match the vision in our head of how it should look but that doesn't mean it isn't still a great painting!

i can only imagine that white flowers can be quite challenging.

I think it looks beautiful!

I also like your white flowers, very much! The only thing I'd say in an effort to help is that in spite of it being darker, the background seems to fight with the flowers. Hope that helps...again, though, I like the flowers a lot!

beautiful white flowers, I like the background colours too.

Well, if you had never done have been very good. Saludos

You did a great job on the flowers, especially for your first try! Adding some more darks under and around them will make them pop out more. I never leave anything alone. The trick is to know when to quit tho. Happy PPF.

ps, you might also try masking out the shape next time before you paint But I especially like the looks of the lower one.

If you were going for something different maybe try another one, but I like this one just the way it is. Good job.

I love this and I have to tell you that you touched on two of the hardest things for me to do- white flowers and backgrounds! I've gotten to where I almost always do my background first just to get it out of the way- seems to help somehow ;)
I do love what you've done- and I DO like your background it's very free and loose. I think you did a great job with this!

I remember in high school art, I was tring to paint snow with watercolors. I just looked at the paper and drew a blank. My teacher actually came over to mix the grayish/blue paint to paint in the highlights. It was my first lesson in seeing true color.

I think you are doing a great job on your painting. I will say that the background is what really made me say ooohhh, I like this.

Keep up the wonderful work, can't wait to see it finished.

White IS really difficult! I'm always surprised by how many colors it actually takes to make white. haha! You're doing a beautiful job, don't give up on it! :)

Much Joy and Paint,
Molly

Sometimes leaving a painting alone for a while is the best thing you can do. You come back, and the things that bothered you before have disappeared.

I think this is gorgeous.

It's beautiful! It looks finished to me. Well done!

I wouldn't change anything. I think it's gorgeous! A very dreamy background. I especially love the colors you have around the edges of the flowers. Beautiful job!

I have trouble with backgrounds myself, so I can't help you there. The flowers themselves are beautiful, though. White flowers should include lots of color, just like yours do. Well done!
