Happy Tea on Tuesday to all!
Well, it's actually still Monday,
but heck, it's raining outside,
so here I am.
Today I'm having some herbal tea
from Zen Granny.
You can find Zen Granny on Etsy.
I wanted to share with you some tea items
that have come into my possession recently.
My sister, Lanette, gave me
a saucer style green bamboo cast iron tea pot.
She found it at an estate sale.
It is missing the infuser,
but otherwise in great condition.
Cast ironware heats evenly, retains heat well,
and is praised worldwide for its beauty, strength, and superb quality.
This teapot is used for brewing only,
is enamel inside to prevent rusting,
and should not be used directly on the stovetop to heat water.
Historically during the mid 19th century
as infused tea drinking became more popular in Japan,
tetsubin or cast iron teapot evolved from being a kitchen item
to being a status symbol used to serve tea.
Many nobles cherish their teapots as treasures
and are kept in the family for generations.
Now...do you see the tea cups?
Do you see what they are made out of?
I found these wire mesh tea cups while thrifting.
Right now they are still a bit rusty,
but I plan on painting them.
These will be a practical yet fun way to decorate.
They can be used to hold candles, teabags,
packets of sweetener, floral arrangements, or small plants.
If you would like to join us for Tea on Tuesday,
visit Kimmie at
or just go by and read what the other
tea bloggers are blogging about this week.
While it's raining outside, I'm going to
paint, drink some tea,
read, catch up on my favorite blogs,
and just....
Savor the Day!
I hope you do too.
Yvonne

Lucky you with that beautiful teapot and those tea cups will look so special once you paint them... promise you will post them again once they are done so we can gaze at them and be horribly jealous... happy Tea on Tuesday...xx
we got that rain on the weekend, and then wind, power went out for several hours, thank goodness for generators! happy tea day!
That teapot is gorgeous! And I love the wire teacups. So cute! We didn't have much rain this season which is why we are getting lots more dust. Bleh! Happy day to you! Tammy :)

Oh...I almost bought a tea pot very similar to that at the thrift shop a couple weeks ago. But in an effort to not drag home stuff I may not use I refrained.
It was lovely though just like yours!
Happy Tuesday!
Your teapot is amazing! I love the shape!
Your mesh teacups would be so cute in the garden :)
Like Nathalie, I've not heard of cast iron tea pots. For some reason, I think of the skillets, but nothing more. Yours is lovely, though, and very unique, I suspect.
Gotta love those cups. I can see them as tealight holders. Maybe you will show them again once you have cleaned and painted them.
I thought I left a message this morning, but I think I left your blog BEFORE I finished posting the comment. Since I don't get to see the "instant gratification" of the comment, I must have gone on my merry way too soon. Now I MUST be sure to click that publish box and WAIT to see a sign of some kind before I leave this time.
AHHH! It worked this time.
Very unique tea goodies!
