I promised I would show you my finished still life and ink pouring.
They have not been critiqued by my watercolor instructor yet,
so I'm sure there will be more changes made.
Here is the still life.
AND...
here is my finished ink pouring.
(Sorry I forgot to take a photo of it
The Ink Pouring Process....
There were several different colors of ink
randomly poured onto wet watercolor paper.
Then it was covered with saran wrap that was scrunched up.
Then a piece of plexi glass was put on top of that,
with books on top of that for weight.
Then you let it dry, and you never know what you will get.
I did watercolor painting in the negative, on top of the dried ink,
for all but the red dragonfly.
It was painted in the positive.
Where I had scrunched up saran wrap on the wet ink,
there were designs,
and one thing I saw in the designs was the dragonfly,
so I painted it in.
Then I saw leaves scattered throughout
so I painted around them, bringing them out.
It's a different technique,
but I like doing it.
The burgandy red was the only ink
that didn't spread around much while drying.
But that's okay.
Like I said, you never know what you will get.
That's what makees it fun!
Try something new!

Savour the day, indeed - it certainly sounds like you've savoured yours. There's nothing like painting and drawing to really help you to relish the world around you. I love the big pot in your top picture and the bold contrast of the orange and blue drapes. xxxx
Loving your beautiful watercolour painting and the Ink Pouring technique looks total fun. Happy PPF, Annette x
They both look great and the ink pouring sounds like a fun process... I have noted it down in my sketchbook for next time I am feeling a bit devoid of inspiration... love your result with it... and thanks for the inspiration...xx
Wow! ~ W/C is lovely ~ and love your ink pouring ~ painting out divinely ~thanks, namaste, ^_^
I did an ink pouring once many years ago but it was nowhere near as nice as yours! Love the added dragonfly too. Beautiful!
Both paintings have turned out beautifully. I especially love your intense colors in the still life.
I love the vibrancy in these ... you are growing in beautiful directions. Have a great weekend! Peace, Mary Helen
Love them both, thanks for sharing the ink pouring technique, I've never heard of that and the results are fabulous, love the colors! Your top piece looks like a Cezanne!
I love the idea of the ink pouring. sounds like fun. Your painting turned out great! And to think - two this week. Good for you! Happy PPF
So beautiful! I love the colors in both- the bird just drew my eye to it in your still life!
The painting is beautiful. I know your instructor will be very pleased. I am intrigued by the ink pouring and I just am itching to try it. Thanks for visiting my blog.

very cool. I love what you've done and for sharing the process. i work a lot like this too!
Interesting technique. Reminds of how when I look at a marbled surface, I am always finding images -- like imagining shapes in clouds.s :) Have a great day. Tammy
wow..these are wonderful...the colours pop...gorgeous..xxx
Lovely pieces, the ink pouring sounds so much fun!
really gorgeous, such a pretty dragonfly. I've used plastic wrap before in my paintings, I love it, I love being surprised by what shows up.
Great ink pouring. I have been doing that too, but I am way too impatient and never let the paint dry.
Looking at yours, I think maybe I should resist the urge to rip off the plastic wrap and start mucking about with it.
Great process, with a wonderful outcome!! Thanks for sharing!

I love the colour combinations in the first painting. And the composition of the second is eye trapping too.
Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes,
