The artists eye

I went with my good friend Karen yesterday,
when she modeled for an art group
at the art center in Corpus Christi.

Here she is sitting in a whilte wicker chair,
with her colorful fall skirt and top on,
a hat she made from a wreath, leaves and flowers,
and her bare feet are on that beautiful, large pumpkin.
The artists were thrilled with how she looked....
sort of like Mother Earth.

She also put a little orange quarter moon on her left cheek,
and you can't see it here, but
on her right cheek she glued on
two small green leaves and then painted some tendrils.

She had sparkly purple toenail polish on.
Very color coordinated!

Here is one artist in progress doing a full shot.

Here another artist doing a head shot.

This is another work in progress.

Another interpretation...finished.

Full shot, in progress...almost done,
drawing and colored pencil.
partly in black and white and partly in color...
I like that technique.

A very good likeness...
in progress.
Can't wait to see this one finished!

There were many variations of Karen in this class,
all wonderful and unique.
Karen said with a smile,
"I enjoy seeing the many different me's".

"Art is unquestionably one of the purest and highest elements
in human happiness.
It trains the mind through the eye,
and the eye through the mind.
As the sun colors flowers, so does art color life."

Hi Yvonne, just saw a glimmering of this post on Facebook. Your friend is perfect for this particular venue. She has such a soft look to her and the last artist you featured really has it down..please show us the finished product. Wow.

She certainly provided the artists with a visually interesting challenge!

I stopped by yesterday and as I was trying to leave a comment, my computer froze as I was trying to publish the comment. I had hoped it had taken, but I see it did not.

I don't remember exactly what I wrote, but I DO know I didn't know you had been "laid up" with a frozen shoulder. I'm glad to reconnect with you because it's been far too long.

Your friend Karen is beautiful and such a great model for your art group. Gotta LOVE the color of her toenails!!
