The sweetest song....and a bird brained idea??????

Each morning I love to listen to the melodious birdsong
that comes from my backyard.
This morning I heard something different...
I watched and finally saw several red breasted grosbeaks.

The song of the red breasted grosbeak
is similar to a robin's, but sweeter...
almost like a "robin in a really good mood"
someone once said.

"I don't ask for the meaning
of the song of a bird
or the rising of the sun
on a misty morning.
There they are,
and they are beautiful."
---Pete Hamill (author, journalist
who studied art in Mexico City
and in 2002 wrote a book called Diego Rivera,
next book on my list to read)

The next visitor to my bird bath was a black headed grosbeak...

Then a first spring hooded oriole...
All have very lovely bird songs.

Now what do you think of this?????

It may sound like a bird-brained idea,
but the mayor of a Mojave Desert city in California
 wants to brighten the streets
 by broadcasting recorded bird songs.
There is scientific proof that
listening to birdsong makes people happier.

Good idea or no???

Savor the Day!
Yvonne

Lovely visitors. Lucky you!

I believe that listening to beautiful bird song does lift the human spirit. Sad that it must be mechanically broadcast though, instead of produced by the birds themselves. And eventually people probably wouldn't even hear it -- it would just be filtered out "background noise" to them.

Such colorful birds. I'm not sure if I'd love having piped in bird sounds or not. I guess I'd have to experience it and see if they sound natural...or like a lifescapes cd.

You've had lots of sweet little visitors to your bird bath. For some folks, it will take a lot more than birdsong to calm them down. :) Wishing you a wonderful day. Tammy

I so envy the variety of birdies that visit you!
Well, although the birdsong would not be nature speaking, I think it is a nice idea...as long as it sounds natural. Birdsong is so sweet. I imagine I would love hearing it in our downtown area. After all, if it is recordings of real birds, one could imagine the little birdies singing. Hopefully they have trees
there!

What a great idea! I'm all for birdsong on the streets! When I was in Terimino (sure the spelling is wrong) Italy, they broadcast operatic songs and everyone was singing!

Love your birdbath and bird post Yvonne.
