Fritillary and Seaglass...

May butterflies...

Well, thanks to you fellow nature lovers out there,
I learned what the little caterpillar,
I showed you in my last post,
was going to turn in to.....

A beautiful Gulf Fritillary butterfly.
Most of the other caterpillars
were lunch for the birds I believe,
but I did see and capture one
and now have it in a jar
with it's food,
the passion vine.
I want to see it turn from caterpillar,
to crysalis, to butterfly.
Have you ever done that?

Beautiful and graceful, varied and enchanting,
small but approachable,
butterflies lead you to the sunny side of life.
And everyone deserves a little sunshine.

SEA GLASS or
Mermaid Tears
sent me some New Jersey shore sea glass.
Thanks Barbara, I love it!

I took one of the green pieces
and made this....

Just a little something with wire, beads
and a little dragonfly.

I have it hanging on the lamp in my office.

The other pieces she sent me,
I have in a hand blown glass bowl,
with some other little treasures.
This is to remind me that
each piece is unique,
intriquing and with a
mysterious past.

I have learned that there is a
National Seaglass Association
They have a very interesting publication called
Shorelines.
If you love collecting seaglass,
you may want to check it out.

Savor the Day!
Yvonne

Oh my, YVONNE, YOU ARE AN ARTISTE EXTRAORDINAIRE! I love what you did with the sea glass and how it looks displayed. So lovely! Who knew when we picked up that piece in NJ that it would end up in such a lovely display in Texas!

This is the first time I've heard sea glass called "mermaid's tears" -- so cool.

Such a beautiful butterfly - I love the colours. As for sea glass - I'm hoping to find some when we visit the kids in Vancouver next month. Hopefully they plan on taking us to the ocean for a little while.

I love the pulley you made with your sea glass. How enchanting that shade is. The butterfly and poem are also very perfect for spring as are the pictures of those glorious flowers. You have brought a little sunshine to my corner today..thanks so much.

How exciting about your "pet" caterpillar ... looking forward to photos along the way!

We had a beautiful chrysalis (Mr M had to help me spell that!) that had a golden thread thru it...I forget now what the butterfly was...maybe a painted lady?

Your butterfly pic is brilliant...nature is so full of wonder

Your display for the treasures from the sea is so beautiful. Love the sea glass pendant you made for the lamp as well.
