Old book page wall art

I've seen old book page wreaths in stores,
and I love them.
I already had an old book
and was using the pages
 to create mixed media art.
I used the rest of it to make this
flower/wreath below.

I just used what I had...
a piece of foamcore board,
an old book, and
a pinecone for the center.
I just tore the pages from the book,
rolled them into cones,
and hot glued them onto different sized circles
that I drew on the foamcore.
I used at least a hundred cones for this one.

Then I hot glued the pinecone in the center.

Doesn't take long really,
once you get used to making the cones.
Also be sure you have a good hot glue gun.
Mine quit working in the middle of this project
and I had to manually push the glue through the gun.

This project can be done many different ways,
and I'm sure there are plenty of how-to's
to be found.
Try making one yourself,
and let me know how it turns out!

Savor the day!
Yvonne

I have seen these too and just LOVE the way they look. Yours is very with the pinecone center. It looks a lot like a giant dahlia. Beautiful job!M.

I had the same problem with my glue gun. I thought I was the only person who had to push my glue through. Glad to know I'm not alone.

Love, love, love this wall hanging. Very impressive with the pinecone in the center.

I like to think that this wreath is made with a 100 or more prayers for peace. Maybe I am searching for peace in every work of art I see lately. I wish you peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

What an original looking wreath! Love the idea that it is a recycled book.

WOW Yvonne...Love what you created very much!

I was noticing today how many store windows are using paper in their displays...one clothing shop had paper tags of white and tan with some folded up a bit...it made a great background

an Anthropologie window had paper houses that were fantastic...Love paper and books and ...
