In my yard this week.....

Hummingbirds stopping for a drink,
on their way south.  There are dozens at my feeders.

Lots of four winged moths around my flower beds.

My new raised garden beds are getting filled
with good stuff....
compost of several kinds,
peat moss, vermiculite
and a bit of top soil.
October is the time to plant the fall garden here in zone 9.
Today it was 56 this morning, 68 this afternoon.

My four o'clocks are blooming.
These came from my cousin Paula.
They are very fragrant.
It is thought that the four o'clock flowers
or Mirabilis, which means 'wonderful'
was first brought over from the
Peruvian Andes.

First thing planted in my new beds
was this rose scented geranium.
I plan on using the leaves.
They smell so good!

What's in your yard this week?

Savor the Day!

Your raised beds are going to be gorgeous! I am going to go buy plants this weekend to replace all the ones that died over the summer. Our temperatures are cooling off -- rather earlier than I ever remember, but I'm grateful that it's not scorching hot anymore. Wishing you a wonderful week. Tammy

I'm curious to know what you plan to use the geranium leaves for? The design you've used for your new beds make me think of a labyrinth.

I am in awe of your new raised beds. They will be fantastic once they are full and everything is growing next year.

My garden is definitely ready for harvest. Mine looks puny next to yours. Of course, I live in much less temperate zone, so mine is getting ready for winter. Glad yours will survive the winter (and what little cold you actually get).

I also saw your labyrinths. I can't believe how easy it is to find them. I know how much they mean to you.

Look how cute those hummingbirds are!! And they are actually resting.
Those raised beds are quite a project but will be so worth it in the end.
