Graffiti inchie and my graffiti art best of show

This inchie is from a photo of some actual graffiti that I found.

I have made graffiti art background pages,
along with Bea and Kris.
I put together a piece awhile back,
using our pages,
and entered it in an art show
where I won
Best of Show.
This was last year,
but for those who have not seen it,

It also sold the night of the reception.
I was thrilled!

Visit Kris for more inchie art.

Words of Encouragement

Do you remember getting gold stars in grade school,
every time you did a great job?
It always made me feel encouraged to do more good things.
I had a teacher who always said,
"OK students, You did great yesterday,
now let's get started on doing even better today.
Let's see how many gold stars I can hand out."

Here are some words of encouragement
she always wrote on the blackboard....
 The words are...
BEGIN
IMAGINE
LAUGH
BELIEVE
SEEK
PLAY
TRUST
LISTEN
CREATE
CONNECT
TOUCH
FORGIVE
PRAY
HOPE
CHOOSE
APPRECIATE
GIVE
READ
WRITE
RELEASE

ஐ☀Love, Peace & Wisdom☀ஐ

If Love were a bird, I would stroke her bright feathers
Then I'd watch her fly free, cross the still of the dawn

And if Peace were a mountain, we'd gather around her
To bathe in her silence, her power, her call

If Wisdom could sing or whisper his secrets
Eternally teaching the ways of the free

In my mind I can see them, I hear them and I feel them
For Love, Peace and Wisdom are all part of me

If Love has her freedom, and Peace her expression,
Surely Wisdom will grow like a flower in bloom

The seed has been planted, and tended and watered
By the prayers of the hopeful and the tears of the brave

We long to return to that place of still waters
And sit on the banks under some shady tree

In my mind I can see it, I hear it and I feel it
And Love, Peace and Wisdom are all that we need

Some call me a dreamer, some will call me a seeker
One who follows her stars on a quest for the truth

But every believer holds a deep hidden memory
Of a time when the earth was a flower in bloom

We long to return to that place of still waters
And sit on the banks under some shady tree

In my mind I can see it, I hear it and I believe it
*And Love, Peace and Wisdom are the three golden keys*

Close ups of WORDS

Last week for Paint Party Friday I posted a mixed media piece
called WORDS.
Thanks so much for all your sweet comments.
Click
to see the finished piece.

WORDS was made with all 52 of my inchie art pieces
for a project I had been involved in at
Every Inchie Monday.
Clilck
if you want to find out more about this project.

I had many comments and emails,
some of you asking for more close up photos,
I assume of all the inchie art.
You can click on any photo on my blog
to enlarge it,
but here are some larger detail shots for you.
Remember you can even click on these to enlarge them even more.

It didn't take that long to make each inchie,
or put together this piece.
Some of you ask me about that.
I don't ever keep track of how long
something takes me to do.
I just have fun with it.
I had to do something with 52 inchies.
It ended up taking about 2 hours to create.
Once I figure it out in my head,
then it goes together pretty fast.

Words, inchies, and art

Do you ever 'get on a roll'
when it comes to art?
Well, since the beginning of the year
I have been making 'inchie' art...
one per week inspired by
a different prompt word each time.
I got so focused on making them this week,
that I finished all of them for the year.
From the beginning I wanted to
create one art piece using all of the inchies.
So below is what I did.
I call it
WORDS.
The quote in the piece is by
Alfred Lord Tennyson
and it says...
"Words, like nature,
half reveal and half conceal
the soul within."

I used a canvas board, acrylic paint,
watercolor pencils, gesso,
and all of the inchie art squares.
The collage is paper from old dictionaries,
garden books, music pages and greeting cards.
I used a stencil to make the background design
then freehanded some more designs here and there.
Gel medium and tacky glue worked great to
attach everything down well.
On top of it all I sprayed
Krylon acrylic varnish.
Now I just have to frame it.
It measures 16 in. by 24 in.

Every Inchie Monday---5 inchies

WhooHoo!
I know it's Sunday,
but I'm playing catch up.
I am now caught up,
AGAIN.
For the last 5 weeks
I have just not
done my inchies for the
I finally sat down
and did it.
Here they are
 for these prompt words...
sweet
love
books
nest
 sunset

For 'sweet' I thought of the sweet scent of flowers.

The word 'love' brought to mind family of course,
that's a given...but then I thought of how much I love art.

'Books' are 'stuff to read' cut out from Cheap Joe's art catalog.

'Nest' is a very 3 dimensional inchie, using a bird shaped bead,
an embroidery floss nest, and a feather.

'Sunset' was just cut out of a magazine.  I thought it looked pretty.

All were created on used watercolor paper
with the weekly prompt word cut out of an old dictionary.
All of my inchies have been simple and similar in style.
I can hardly believe I've done 31 inchies so far!
Hopefully I can keep up every week,
but no promises.
Next weeks prompt word is
RUST.
That will be interesting!

Inchies 5

Every Inchie Monday
has come and gone several times for me.
Life has been busy but
I love this little project
so here I am catching up with 5 inchies.
This makes 25 inchies so far,
in this year long project,
all in a similar style.
They are kept simple
(with 'solitude' being the most simple one yet),
 and the word prompt
is cut from an old dictionary.
Each one is created on used watercolor paper.
(I love to recycle, even in small ways)
Inchie art can be very simple, like mine,
 or very fancy.
I am always blown away at some of the artists work
on such a tiny canvas.
Go see them all at
and tell Kris and all the other artists hello,
or better yet, why don't you join us for some fun.

There is inchie art of all kinds.
Here are some great books.

Winged Inchie and a Flower painting

Every Inchie Monday
 prompt word is....
winged.
Visit Kris at
to join us, or just to be amazed
at some amazingly beautiful tiny art.
You can see more of my inchies
if you go to my labels
and click on
Every Inchie Monday.
This one is number 13!

Practicing my watercolor this week.

After I painted my horses,
I wanted to do something smaller
and simpler, so here are some
simple flowers in a vase
that I sketched.
It measures 11 by 14 inches.
Watercolor Tip:
Dolores tells us to step back and
to look at the piece in a mirror.
