Amulets, the I Ching and superstitions

 For my birthday yesterday,

 I received many wonderful things,

lots of people singing happy birthday to me,

phone calls and FB well wishes and more.  

 I had a great day out with my friend Karen,

a wonderful lunch at the Tea Tango Fandango,

and then a wonderful quiet dinner at home with my DH.

Karen is full of laughter and so very generous.

She gave me a wonderful bag full of all kinds of goodies,
including a daily gratitude journal and

a few more of the many generous things,

were The I Ching, A Nazar, and a Peruvian Amulet vial....

all very interesting.

She also made the feather pen, as I love feathers!

The journal of gratitude had the lyrics to

The 'nazar boncugu' is an eye shaped amulet believed to protect against the evil eye.

The vial is made by a curandero  (folk doctor), from the Amazon area of Ayacucho, Peru. 

 Used for protection, health, and luck. 

The I Ching, or Book of Changes

is consulted for sage advice at life's turning points.

These are so interesting!

Am I superstitious, probably to some extent.

I believe we all are.

Have you ever thrown rice at a wedding,

or say God bless you when someone sneezes,

or thrown coins into a fountain......

 those ALL come from old superstitions.
