Heron watercolor and quote

Birds...one of my favorite things.

Green Heron
practicing my watercolor

“When despair for the world grows in me, and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be -- I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought or grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.”
---Wendell Berry

Your green heron is just beautiful. The words of Wendell Berry are beautiful, too, and the combination just made my night. Thank you so much for sharing your talents so freely.

Looks more like a completed work than a practice session, very pretty!

I have been lucky enough to have Wendell as a professor ...a very long time ago but he is always in my heart. Beautiful poet and it seems appropriate for your heron painting. Have a great week in your studio! Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart

I love your painted heron - the colors are so bright and sun filled - it looks to me like it could be an embroidered work on the back of the kimono - simply lovely.

and the Wendell Berry words are beautiful - thank you for sharing
