Mint tea and a potager

I've been unplugged for about a week,
because the weather has just been gorgeous.
Spring is here!
I've been outside digging in the dirt every day,
planting my flower beds and
preparing my garden beds.
I'm a bit late on that but,
drought plus wildlilfe plus no fence equals no garden.
So, for the past few weeks we've been working on putting up a fence
to take care of that issue.
I usually like to plant vegetables, herbs and flowers
all together,
like an old fashioned potager garden.
I've been sitting here this
Tea on Tuesday morning,
drinking my mint tea,
in my vintage tea cup
(a tea cup swap gift)
thinking of what I will be planting.

I love different kinds of mint,
and putting a sprig or two in my tea is wonderful.
So mint will surely be in my potager garden this year.

Potager Garden Definition: (pronunciation: puh ta zhay)
a garden that combines both edible
and ornamental plants;
a vegetable garden that is utilitarian in nature
but designed with beauty in mind.
I love the idea of a potager garden.
I will make use of the herbs and flowers
as much as the vegetables.

Now I'm thinking of a name for my
enclosed yard/garden.
Photos to come later of the fence
and my 'moon' gate.

Savor the Day!

You have given me some desire to dig, Yvonne, LOL! I mentioned it a few days ago in this warmth, but was told it's too early. Now that it's the first day of spring, I don't think so! Will be over 80 on Thursday here. :)

Gardeners love to dream about their gardens, I know. Have fun!

Oooh, a moon gate, that sounds interesting... tell more about it. I've have longed all my life to have a garden; it must be so so good to dig your hands into the earth like that.
Can't wait to see pictures of this wonderful sounding Potager's garden!

My husband and I try to keep a pottage garden too - although we didn't know it had a name :)

one of our biggest successes has been borders using cabbages and another one using "bright lights" chard. It's fun - plus, some of the flowers work well as pest deterrents - like lavender and marigolds - we don't have deer or rabbits - just slugs and snails

Happy Tuesday! and enjoy your day .... and your week!!! I would stay unplugged if I were out in the garden like that!!!

A potager garden would definitely be the way I would go. I love hodge podge much more so than perfectly manicured. :) Best wishes to you, Tammy

I was up all night and slept part of the day before I headed to the basement to make a bit of art. I am so sorry I have missed you, because you are normally the first person I visit each Tea Tuesday. I may have to try that garden. At one time, I planted marigolds with my tomatoes, but didn't last year because the drought was so great. This year I'm just hoping for herbs to begin with. I can't wait to see your new garden. I really enjoyed tea with you today in that fantastic cup!

Lovely tea day...happy digging.
My DH used to call me Mud Hen when I was a gardener.

Your banner lady still makes me smile so big each time I visit.

As we prepare our spring plantings my thoughts are to make it more pleasing to the eye. Thanks for the inspiration! PS love the tea cup and the table cloth stitching :)
