Garden enchantments or oddments???????

My 'pet' caterpillar
(soon to be Gulf Fritillary butterfly)
 is doing fine.
Eating ferociously on the passion vine leaves.

I guess I should give him (or her) a name.
Any ideas????

Walking around my garden this morning
I was thinking
What can I do with this stump in my yard?

I actually have two stumps I could make projects out of.
They are home to little creatures,
and sometimes I see a little garter snake.

I think I will make planters out of the stumps.
I guess that's another project where I will need help from my DH.
He'll just get out his trusty chain saw and hollow out the middle,
enough to put soil in, and then I can plant
my 'hen and chicks',
and let them spill over the side.

Any other ideas?
Fairy house maybe?

I don't know why,
but I am enchanted by little things like
tendrils.

Maybe it's because of it's spiral form.
I guess it doesn't take much to thrill me!!!!  LOL

My Blue Bottle Tree

I love my blue bottle tree
my DH built for me awhile back.
I need to get busy acquiring more blue bottles
for another one!!!!!!

I think Harold might be a good name for your new pet....I have no idea why.

A hollowed-out stump is a great place for a succulent planter. I've seen a few around and like them. The blue bottle tree is pretty and so nice that it was made just for you.

Hen and chicks would be fantastic in that stump. Now you've got me wanting to hollow out our wood cutting log for the same thing. I'm pretty sure I'd get into trouble for doing that though.... Sure would be cute and my hen and chicks are outgrowing their container...hmmmm.

So many thing to Love here Yvonne!

Mr Magpie has plans to make a bottle tree for me ... yours is fabulous

I like the idea of planting some sedums in your tree stump...hens and chicks would do well there I'm sure

we seem to be drawn to lots of the same things ;) I have a container with grape vine tendrils ... each one is special ... yours in tender pink is really lovely and will mature to be a beauty I bet LOL

that sure is one pokey caterpillar you have there ... what fun to get to witness it's transformation = Love it!

How about Lily. Isn't frittilaria a lily species?
A friend asked me if I want her blue bottle collection.
What do you think I said?
Yes!!!

It's fun to watch the caterpillar - when I was a kid I can remember doing the very same thing with monarchs. It was always so amazing when the butterfly 'arrived'.
