Moon Gate is up

I've been unplugged for a week or more.... for different reasons.
  The beautiful weather is one,
but mainly
I had surgery last week,
and getting online just wasn't in my schedule.
Nothing serious.
All is well.

During this down time
my husband has been working
on our backyard fence.
The fence we decided on
 is what's called a
'good neighbor' fence,
instead of a 'privacy' fence.
The pickets are on both sides and looks good from both sides,
but mainly the wind comes through,
and that's a good thing here in South Texas.
The thing I am really excited about is
my variation of a 'moon' gate.

We've had this metal ring,
and the brass bells for many years,
and I always knew we would use them for something.
They go prefectly in my
moon gate.
The gate is 5 feet wide and about 7 feet tall,
putting the 'moon' at just about eye level.
You can see through the moon
to the back part of the fence
in these photos, and as you can see, we only have one side
of the pickets up so far.
At least while we are finishing up,
the wildlife can't eat my garden anymore.

Now, one more thing to finish it off....
I want to burn some words
into the wooden arbor above the gate...
coming in and going out.
Any thoughts on that?

Spring is here,
so soon I will be planting seeds.
How about you?

Now that I'm feeling better,
I want to catch up on
all your blog posts too.
I know you all have been busy,
as usual,
 creating and doing wonderful things.

Savor the Day!
Yvonne

thats a beautiful gate, amazing, I love this, I don't know about words off hand but you know the symbols for waxing, waning, full moon, those symbols would be really cool burned in the wood.
I know the moon controls the tide so ther must be quotes about that, ( I really love this gate)!

So lovely, and if I'm seeing it right, the moongate provides an actual hole in the fence with the bells hanging in the hole? I really love thus! Glad you are feeling good, be well!

Love the moon gate. You always have such beautifully researched items for us, so I'm sure you have found many quotations that fit you both and your space. If not, though, how about "Welcome to the far side of the moon."

Glad your surgery wasn't serious and that all is well.

Yvonne,
Only an artist would pause to consider a fancy fence (lol)!!! I love the moon gate. I recall a beautiful fence in Austin, TX, it had different fairy tale characters and animals carved & painted in the fence--it was truly a fairy tale house, yard and fence! Wish I could remember the address. There is a site for artsy yards, amazing what you can find on line. Your site is so tranquil, always at peace when I come here! Can I be your neighbor?????? Hope to see you at watercolor class once my school tours end.
Brenda :)
